The K-II Meter (K-2) is one of the most popular tools in the paranormal field, originally designed to detect electromagnetic fields from appliances and power lines. It features a simple five-LED display that ranges from green (low) to red (high). In an investigation, it is used to detect unexplained spikes in EMF that occur far away from any known electrical sources.

The K-II is famously used for ‘LED communication.’ Investigators will ask a spirit to ‘light up the meter’ to answer questions: one flash for yes, two for no. While critics point out that cell phone pings and walkie-talkies can trigger the device, experienced researchers use it in a controlled environment, often placing it on the floor or a table and stepping away to ensure no human interference is possible.
