This privacy policy (“Policy”) describes how Haunted Lineage LLC d/b/a Haunted Lineage (“Website”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you visit or use our website, mobile applications, and the Haunted Lineage Lab (collectively, the “Platform”). By using our Platform, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with this Policy.
Information We Collect
We collect information to provide, maintain, and improve our services. The types of information we collect are:
- Information You Provide: We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you create an account, subscribe to our newsletter, fill out an investigation form, submit a directory listing, or contact us. This information may include your callsign, name, email address, phone number, and account credentials.
- Investigation Data (The Lab): When using the Haunted Lineage Lab, you may enter case files, audio logs, photos, floor plans, witness questionnaires, and research notes. You retain 100% full ownership of your investigation data. Private case files are never published or shared with third parties without your affirmative authorization.
- Mobile App Sensors & Hardware Access: When using the Haunted Lineage Lab mobile app, we request your explicit runtime permission to access device sensors required for field inquiry: Microphone (for live audio/EVP capture), Camera (for anomaly photo logs and SLS optical tracking), Location/GPS (for geotagging case baselines and space weather lookup), Bluetooth/BLE (for connecting field instrumentation and EMF pods), and Storage (for importing media evidence). You may revoke permissions at any time in device settings.
- Voiceprints (Biometric Exclusion Profiles): If you choose to calibrate your vocal profile in the Lab to filter team chatter from EVPs, a non-reversible mathematical vector embedding is generated locally. Raw calibration audio is immediately destroyed. Voiceprints strictly self-enroll with electronic consent, are never sold or used for AI training, and automatically expire and purge after six (6) months in accordance with biometric privacy standards (BIPA).
- Information Collected Automatically: We automatically collect certain information when you visit our Platform. This includes your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages visited, sync status, and timestamps.
- Information from Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies, web beacons, and local storage (IndexedDB) to cache offline investigation records, authenticate users, and analyze website traffic.
How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information for the following purposes:
- To provide, operate, and maintain our website, the Haunted Lineage Lab, and mobile applications.
- To synchronize case files across team members in real-time and provide offline-first data durability.
- To manage accounts, team permissions, subscriptions, storage boost quotas, and billing records.
- To respond to your inquiries, support tickets, and account requests.
- To send transactional account, purchase, upgrade, renewal, and security notices.
- To improve our Platform, services, and user experience by analyzing aggregate usage trends.
- To protect against fraud, illegal trespassing, abuse, and security threats.
Sharing and Disclosure of Information
We do not sell your personal information or your private investigation data. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers & Infrastructure: We share information with trusted third-party service providers who perform critical operational tasks on our behalf: GTHost (dedicated server and database hosting in Toronto, Canada); Haunted Lineage Central Mailer (authenticated transactional email dispatch); Stripe (web payment processing and billing portal); Google Play & RevenueCat (mobile app subscription processing, digital receipt validation, and entitlement routing); and PostHog (self-hosted/dedicated diagnostics and error telemetry).
- Environmental & Telemetry APIs: To correlate field investigation baselines, your app or our server queries scientific public data endpoints: NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center (planetary K-index and solar X-ray flux); NASA Open APIs (space weather telemetry); National Weather Service (atmospheric conditions); OpenStreetMap / Photon / Esri (map rendering and reverse geocoding); and Macrostrat (geological bedrock data).
- Team Collaboration & Public Cases: Team members see case data according to their assigned roles. If you deliberately toggle an investigation to Public or Publish to Directory, that designated case is rendered accessible on public portals.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, subpoena, or in good faith belief that action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, prevent illegal wiretapping or trespassing, or protect the safety of users.
Artificial Intelligence & Acoustic Privacy
We respect the confidentiality and integrity of your research:
- No Model Training on User Data: We explicitly guarantee that your private case files, notes, audio recordings, EVPs, voiceprints, and witness transcripts are NEVER used to train, retrain, or fine-tune public artificial intelligence models (such as OpenAI, Google Gemini, or open-source LLMs).
- On-Device Speech & DAW Processing: Audio filtering, spectrum analysis, and local speech recognition (Vosk/Moonshine) run directly on your device via WebAssembly to ensure acoustic evidence remains strictly private.
Cookies, Tracking Technologies, and Advertising
We use cookies and local browser storage to keep you authenticated and improve your user experience.
- Authentication & State: Cookies and token storage enable seamless Single Sign-On (SSO) between the main Haunted Lineage portal and the Lab.
- Advertising Features: We may display contextual advertising via Google AdSense to non-subscribed users (Free Explorer tier). Google and third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits. You may manage ad personalization by visiting Google’s Ad Settings.
Your Choices and Opt-Outs
You have several options to control your information:
- Email Communications: You can unsubscribe from non-transactional announcements by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in any email.
- Device Sensor Permissions: You can revoke Camera, Microphone, Location, or Bluetooth permissions at any time through your Android or browser settings.
- Account & Data Deletion: You may delete your account, private investigations, or voiceprints at any time in Account Settings. Due to offline-first caching, clearing local browser/app storage is recommended on shared field devices.
- Advertising Opt-Outs: Visit the NAI Consumer Opt-Out or install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Security
We maintain industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards (including TLS encryption in transit, bcrypt password hashing, and token authorization) to protect your personal information. However, no electronic transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
International Users
Our core servers are located in Canada and the United States. If you access the Platform from other jurisdictions, your information will be transferred and processed under applicable security and user consent frameworks.
Children’s Privacy
Our Platform is not intended for children under 13 years of age (and users must be at least 18 to establish a paid Lab account). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at site@hauntedlineage.com to request deletion.
Changes to This Policy
