Description

This railway ran from Cordova to the Kennecott copper mine. It was later closed, covered with dirt, and is currently used as a road to access areas along the Copper River. There have been sightings of gravestones along the dirt road in the woods that seemingly vanish upon investigation. Government housing built in Chitina between 1997-98 was closed after workers reported hearing voices and children laughing, and tools being misplaced. Similar sounds are often heard at night in the woods along the road.

📝 Case Notes

Previously listed as 'Old Copper Railroad'. The official name is Copper River and Northwestern Railway. Note: Haunting reports specifically mention the Chitina government housing and the back woods along the McCarthy Road.
