Hood College – Brodbeck Hall
Hood College – Brodbeck Hall
Description
Brodbeck Hall is the oldest building on campus, built in 1868 on the site of a former German biergarten. Late at night, laughter, music, and the sound of boots scraping across the floor have been heard coming from empty rooms. Strange orbs of light have been spotted floating near the stage, and misty figures have been seen standing by the pianos. Lights turn on and off on their own, doors lock and unlock without explanation, and the third floor — normally off limits — is said to be home to a presence that has been seen staring out the window. A little girl dressed in Civil War-era clothing has also been spotted near the building, walking toward Coffman Chapel before vanishing.

Haunted Lineage note: Multiple legends circulate about Hood College's campus. The original Shadowlands entry describes a building constructed on the site of an old Civil War-era saloon, a girl reportedly murdered in the 1970s (found crawling up stairs with her throat cut before dying outside her dorm room door), strange knockings, and self-moving elevators. These specific claims could not be substantiated through news archives, police records, or historical documents at this time. The description above blends the circulating campus legends as reported.
