NASA – Cape Canaveral Space Force Station – Launch Complex 34

Description

This historic launch pad was built for the Saturn I and IB rockets and was the site of the tragic Apollo 1 fire on January 27, 1967, which claimed the lives of astronauts Gus Grissom, Ed White, and Roger Chaffee. The site has been abandoned in place since 1968 and now serves as a memorial. Over the years, reports have surfaced of strange occurrences at the complex, including eerie feelings on the pad and sounds of screams coming from the abandoned buildings. While NASA once allowed tours, the site is now primarily restricted except for the annual memorial service held each January 27.
