Full spectrum conversions: genuine visual anomalies or just IR light bounce?

Modifying a DSLR or camcorder for full-spectrum shooting by removing the internal infrared cut filter opens the sensor to ultraviolet and infrared light. The goal is capturing silhouettes or light distortions that standard human vision completely misses in the dark.

The tradeoff is that without an IR cut filter, outdoor and indoor shots become extremely sensitive to stray ambient bounce, dust reflection, and thermal bloom from nearby illuminators. If you shoot with a modified full-spectrum camera during investigations, have you captured visual evidence that held up under scrutiny, or do you find the extra light spectrum creates too many false anomalies?
