Laser grids in dark hallways: actually catching shadows or just eye fatigue?

Setting up a green laser grid matrix across a dark hallway or doorway is one of the coolest-looking pieces of gear on an investigation. The idea is simple: if an unseen figure walks through the beam, the laser dots break and deform against their outline on camera.

But staring at a field of green laser dots for two hours in the dark plays serious tricks on your vision, making dots look like they're dancing or disappearing when your eyes are just tired. If you've used a laser grid, have you ever captured a genuine shadow breaking the beams on video, or do you find them too tough to evaluate?
