In 1988, a young waitress named Michelle was tragically murdered and left in a car trunk behind the inn’s back patio. Although a dishwasher was convicted, rumors persist that the cook was the real culprit. Regardless, Michelle’s spirit reportedly still haunts the property. The owner mentions that customers frequently complain about toilets mysteriously flushing near closing time.
Even more spine-tingling is the property’s history: in its earlier days, people were allegedly hanged from the twisted oak tree out front. A noose is said to be visible, embedded within the growing tree. Additional reports from a staff member mention witnessing Michelle’s ghost, hearing the food bell ring constantly at all hours, and seeing shadows. The ghost of a former owner named Larry, who took his own life in the office, also reportedly haunts the site, along with a mysterious man in black.
