Haunted Lineage note: Previously listed as "Jane Morgan Home". The official name is the Gideon Merrill House. The address and listing title were updated to reflect the correct official name and location at River Road (technically Arundel Road).Β The haunting phenomena are historically concentrated in the attic and a second-floor bedroom once belonging to an herbalist known as Old Lady Wells.
The Gideon Merrill House was built in 1754 and remained in the Merrill family for several generations before passing to Samuel Lewis, an undertaker, in 1830. The house later belonged to the Currier family, including actress Jane Morgan and her brother Robert Currier, who turned the barn into the Kennebunkport Playhouse.
