Haunted Lineage note: Rockwood Mansion (now Rockwood Park & Museum) was built between 1851 and 1854 by Joseph Shipley as an English Rural Gothic Revival estate.
The estate later passed to the Bringhurst family and is now owned and operated by New Castle County as a historic museum and park. It has gained widespread renown as one of Delaware’s most haunted destinations, featured on programs such as Ghost Hunters and My Ghost Story, with frequent reports of apparitions, phantom footsteps, disembodied voices, and cold spots throughout the mansion.
