The institution was designed for youth eighteen years old and younger. It closed in the 1970s. Although the buildings were recently torn down, the site was a hotbed for paranormal activity. Voices of children playing could be heard, as well as a little girl crying in one of the rooms. Apparitions appeared in the form of highly unfriendly black masses. All of the former buildings exhibited these traits, especially the boiler room, which would grow unnaturally cold and fill with a foul stench. Many people reported a feeling of being watched and hearing an unseen presence whispering incoherently into their ears. Poltergeist activity was also noted, mainly involving the hiding of flashlights and objects moving to different places. Photographs taken at the site revealed hundreds of orbs and plasma streaks.
