In 1993 a man pulled a .22 caliber handgun and opened fire. He was subsequently shot by a campus police officer. One witness performing first aid said the gunman bled heavily and when paramedics arrived, stopped breathing. Faint lights have been recorded in the room on a video camera by a local ghost hunting group.
Haunted Lineage note: The actual incident occurred on July 8, 1993, when a 28-year-old student named Mark Duong shot and injured three people during a grievance hearing in the Shepard Union Building. He wounded a campus police officer and was subsequently shot and killed by the return fire. The legend regarding a 22-year-old student and a dumped girlfriend is a distortion of this historical event.
