Nightengale House has a tricky poltergeist that inhabits the basement and first floor lounge. It has been known to move furniture, and cause issues with electrical circuitry. It also has been reported that the spirit will try to push people down the stairs. Photos taken outside the home have been seen with multiple orbs.
At night, doors can be heard slamming, and lights frequently flicker on and off. Lockers left locked are later found unlocked, and the voices of phantom children can be heard echoing in the hallway when no one is present.
You can hear people in the weight room when investigated, though it is always empty. It is rumored someone hanged themselves up there. Typing has been heard in the typing room, and in the library, there is a feeling of being watched.
Pardon Miller House – RISD Outer Housing – is the home of two young children who have been seen by students working in the basement. Also, a young woman’s voice can be heard by students on the second floor of the house. She has been seen on occasion.

This historic structure served as a Confederate hospital during the Civil War, and local lore suggests it is haunted by the spirit of a soldier named Sydney Grimlett. According to legend, Grimlett died after an unsuccessful leg amputation and has since been known to manifest as orbs or playfully interact with the building’s occupants.
Reports of unexplained activity at Sealy High School include sounds of walking, doors opening and closing on the second floor, and elevators operating by themselves.
Every night on the six grade side you can see an old lady wondering outside in a 40’s white dress and janitors there say when they work late they see her and if you call out to her she just turns around and disappears.
During the early ’60s, there was a killer loose in Madison Heights. He used to bury his bodies in the landfill, which is now a hill used for sledding right next to Lamphere High School. Every once in a while, you can hear insane laughter around the school.
