Nightengale House has a tricky poltergeist that inhabits the basement and first floor lounge. It has been known to move furniture, and cause issues with electrical circuitry. It also has been reported that the spirit will try to push people down the stairs. Photos taken outside the home have been seen with multiple orbs.
At night, doors can be heard slamming, and lights frequently flicker on and off. Lockers left locked are later found unlocked, and the voices of phantom children can be heard echoing in the hallway when no one is present.

This historic structure served as a Confederate hospital during the Civil War, and local lore suggests it is haunted by the spirit of a soldier named Sydney Grimlett. During the early ’60s, there was a killer loose in Madison Heights. He used to bury his bodies in the landfill, which is now a hill used for sledding right next to Lamphere High School. Every once in a while, you can hear insane laughter around the school.
Ellender Hall dormitory is reportedly home to flickering lights, moving objects, and phantom scratching. While rumors of a student suicide exist, no records confirm this. The activity is often linked to the campus being built on former Civil War hospital grounds.

Local legend says a construction worker was killed during the building of the new gymnasium and can still be heard roaming through it.
It is said that a janitor got stuck in the boiler room of the school and died, and now he haunts it at night. When someone goes by the boiler room after dark, you can sometimes hear him screaming for help.
