Haunted Lineage note: Originally established in the mid-19th century as the Saline County Poor Farm (with county poor-relief records dating back to 1836), the Saline County Rest Home operated on county-owned land north of Marshall, Missouri, as a self-sustaining agrarian estate designed for indigent and infirm residents. Over the decades, it evolved from an agricultural infirmary into a licensed skilled nursing and residential care facility featuring dedicated residential wards and service wings. The standalone facility officially ceased operations and closed between 1991 and 1992, when Saline County partnered with Fitzgibbon Hospital to transfer residents and operations to a modern long-term care wing on Linden Tree Parkway—known today as The Living Center—after which the historic rest home property was decommissioned.
